Wildfire risk across Europe is rising, and effective response depends on knowing the landscape in detail before a fire ever starts. This partnership delivers high-precision mapping data — buildings, tree canopy, water bodies and other land-cover features — across European Union member states to strengthen wildfire mitigation and response.
Built on Copernicus imagery
Drawing on high-resolution aerial imagery from the EU's Copernicus Earth-observation programme, we extract building footprints and land-cover layers across the continent's most vulnerable regions, covering critical fire-risk zones in multiple member states.
One comparable picture for Europe
For the first time, this pan-European dataset provides standardised, comparable geospatial information across member states — feeding systems such as the European Forest Fire Information System and supporting the EU Forest Strategy and Disaster Resilience Goals. Accurate, current ground data lets agencies model where fire is likely to spread, prioritise prevention and direct resources when minutes matter.
